We are the Mathis Mini Farmers: Brad, Michelle, Jackson and Dean.
We live in West Homewood with our rescue dog, Steve Rogers.
We began with a garden when we were newlyweds and have expanded the area we plant every year. Now we have 3 working acres and produce enough veggies, fruits, and flowers to sell to you all at the West Homewood Farmer’s Market during the summer and the Market at Pepper Place starting in Spring of 2025.
Brad does most of the strenuous labor of farming and I (Michelle) handle social media/marketing for our new farm. We both still have full time jobs in addition to the farm. Brad is a manager at an environmental company in Clanton, and I do Pediatric Surgery and GI research for UAB.
Our family loves hiking and spending time outdoors together, so when we farm, we strive to embrace sustainable methods. This planting season we created our first no-till field and are excited to see how these plants thrive. Becoming a sustainable farm is a big task, but totally worth it.
We love being able to share our veggies with you all and always have a great time seeing new and old friends at the farmer's market. When it isn't market season, you can buy our fresh produce directly from us using our website.
